Whoami
Hello there, gentle reader. My name is Dylan Shield, thanks for stopping by my little blog!
I’m a cybersecurity person with a background in EH, Networking, DevOps, SOC Analyst, and Security Content Engineering. Over the past ~6 years I’ve worked in the broadcast and telecommunication industries for large European companies. I was in the top 350 people world wide on TryHackMe.
My aim with this blog is to demystify cybersecurity and hopefully teach something people want to learn. The Open-Source community has been excellent to me (and millions of people around the world) that it’s about time I give something back. For all the people who have taken time out of their day/night to answer obscure questions on a forum somewhere, or who committed a fix to a peace of FOSS software, this is for you! :)
It goes without saying (but I’m gonna say it anyway), we’re all adults here, do not use any of what I demonstrate in this blog for illegal activities. Unauthorized hacking is a serious crime, with serious jail time. If it’s not part of a bug-bounty or you haven’t been explicitly told to hack someone, it’s probably illegal!
